What is the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant?
A deodorant differs from an antiperspirant in that a deodorant provides odor protection only while an antiperspirant helps protect against both odor and reduce wetness caused by perspiration.
Where does odor come from?
Sweat comes from the apocrine gland, this secretion feeds bacteria found on skin. The rapidly multiplying bacteria emits an undesirable odor. Sweat in itself contains little to no odor.
Which glands produce perspiration?
Perspiration is almost entirely secreted by the eccrine glands. Large amounts of fluids are released and tend to be clear with a pH in the lower acid range.
Why do we perspire?
Our bodies perspire to control and reduce body temperature.
What is the active ingredient in ARRID™ antiperspirant deodorant?
The active ingredient in our clear gel products is Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly. The active ingredient in our solid stick and aerosol products is Aluminum Chlorohydrate.
